Hurricane Dorian has devastated the Bahamas and impacted communities along the U.S. eastern coast. The Jewish Federation is working closely with our national system and our partners at the JDC to monitor the situation and respond to the evolving needs on the ground in the Bahamas. Please help us help them by giving today to the Hurricane Dorian Relief Fund. 100% of your gift will provide support for hurricane victims as emergency personnel and the local communities continue to assess and meet urgent needs.

Synagogues are Vital to the Jewish Future: A Message from Gil Preuss
Synagogues today have the ability to engage people in ways spiritual, cultural, social, and more. They offer us multiple avenues for exploring deep and personal questions while also helping us feel part of something larger than ourselves. This work is set to make a significant impact on the Jewish future. Synagogues reach more people than any other institution in American Jewish life. The choices synagogues make as they build community and connect people to each other and Jewish faith, tradition, and values matter.

The Season for Looking In and Looking Out for Each Other
Throughout the month before Rosh Hashanah, we are encouraged to start our introspection, examining our past deeds and looking for areas of improvement. We are reminded to repair relationships and strive to be better human beings, while also looking out and truly seeing others as images of the divine, worthy of dignity and respect. This season, as we work to overcome our own shortcomings, look outward and see who else is challenged and could use support. So many in our community are afflicted by a variety of issues, including addictions. Addiction in its many forms is of increasing concern in the Jewish community. On September 19, join us at Congregation Beth El for a timely discussion infused with Jewish wisdom about the challenges of addiction and recovery, and how our tradition can provide practical recovery techniques to begin or continue the healing journey.
