What’s the role of illustration in science? Join us live on Zoom or Facebook to draw along with Derek Tan, Digital Media Specialist at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum, and the illustrator behind many of the exhibits
 
Online Museum Collections Tour (ages 5 and up)
60 minutes | Online Tour| Cost $60 including tax

Join us online to virtually explore the six collections that make up the museum: Tetrapods, Marine Invertebrates, Herbarium, Entomology, Fish, and Fossils. Discover stories about BC species, biodiversity research, and different specimens in the collection and how they relate to each other.

This introductory online tour will teach you about some of the different specimens in the collection, and showcase some of our Museum Interpreters’ favourite specimens and stories. After a virtual tour, you will have time to ask questions.

This booking is 60 minutes long. This includes 15 min tech check with facilitator in advance, plus a 45 minute session - composed of a 30 minute virtual tour followed by 15 minute Q&A with a Museum Interpreter.

Sea/Life explores the sustainability of marine systems and addresses the troubled relationship between humans and the ocean by bringing our attention to the creatures that inhabit them.
Fire Followers opening on May 14. In this exhibit, artist Megan Majewski and writer Sharon Roberts give voice to forests impacted by the BC wildfires.
Adventures in Mountmaking: Beaty Boxes

"A mountmaker’s best work is the stuff a viewer never notices, and, as I like to say, I innovate inside the box.” This is how Lesha Koop, Mount Maker at the Beaty Biodiversity Museum describes her work! The Beaty Biodiversity Museum is Vancouver's natural history museum, dedicated to building greater understanding, and a shared sense of community and wonder, around biodiversity.

In celebration of the first 10 years of the public Beaty Biodiversity Museum, we are planning an exhibition to showcase the beauty and diversity of artistic talents that are housed in the Beaty Biodiversity Museum and the Biodiversity Research Centre.
We are inviting past and current staff, students, researchers and volunteers of the BBM and BRC to submit up to 3 pieces of creative works per person for possible inclusion in a juried exhibition that will be displayed in the Museum’s public exhibition space September, 2020 – February, 2021.
