Have you met Federation's Community Shlichim?
Each year, The Jewish Federation brings Shlichim (Israeli emissaries) to Greater Washington to connect with our community and transform our relationship with Israel. Learn more about their lives in Israel, what motivates their mission to educate around the world, and how they inspire others with their stories.

Announcing Requests for Proposals for Addressing Antisemitism
In response to growing antisemitism in our community and across the country, Federation is launching a Request for Proposals (RFP) for new and innovative programs that reduce the prevalence of antisemitic activity and build the capacity for teenagers to respond to incidents of antisemitism. Please share this with your networks and any organizations that may have relevant programs and initiatives. Proposals are due by March 1, 2024. To request the RFP, please contact Elisa at AntisemitismRFP@shalomdc.org.
MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY OF SERVICE
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage volunteering and civic engagement. Join Federation partners across Greater Washington for opportunities to make a difference for our community and honor Dr. King’s legacy. Together, we can act as a force for good in the world.
MLK Shabbat: Visions of Freedom and Justice
Join Sixth & I for a special Shabbat commemorating the spirit and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel. The service will feature soul-lifting music from Covenant Baptist Church’s choir and Sixth & I musicians, plus words of inspiration from interfaith partners and community leaders working to eradicate racism, antisemitism, and all forms of discrimination.

Gather at the Qatari Embassy to Bring the Hostages Home
Qatar has helped to successfully mediate the release of more than 100 Israeli hostages, but this is not enough. Join Federation partner, the Jewish Community Relations Council, at the Qatari Embassy to press Qatar to demand Hamas immediately release over 130 hostages still being held in Gaza. We want them home now.
Date TBD (check the JCRC website for updates)
