Permanency Resource Centers

Permanency Resource Centers

This spring CCFCS launched a new program to serve families. Called Permanency Resource Centers, the program will provide vital support services to adoptive parents, grandparents, legal guardians, and kin caregivers in Monroe, Schuyler, Steuben, and Wayne Counties. The goal is to support permanent, stable family homes for children and youth. The program was made possible by a 5-year, $2.5 million grant from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.

Connecting Refugees to Local Jobs

In a major boost to help newly arriving refugees in Rochester secure local employment, CCFCS has been awarded a 5-year, $5.4 million dollar job preparation and placement grant from the NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA), Bureau of Refugee Services (BRS). The funding will ramp up CCFCS’ already successful Refugee Employment Services Program, (RES), which provides job preparation and job placement for the refugee population. RES has placed more than 370 refugees in local jobs since 2019. Over the same period, more than half of the refugees placed in jobs by CCFCS became self-sufficient within 90 days of employment. RES maintains a base of more than 100 employers in the Greater Rochester area. To learn more, contact Refugee Employment Services.

Day of Caring

We are so grateful for the many volunteers who turned out to support us during this year's United Way Day of Caring! Thank you to volunteers from Wegmans, Frontier Glss Inc., Mason Marketing, Hyatt Regency Rochester, The Strathallen Rochester, Cobblestone Capital Advisors, Children's Health Home of Upstate NY, and Turner Engineering for helping with repairs, painting, and yardwork at our I/DD residential homes in Monroe County, and to CCFCS staff who helped put down ground cover in the new children's playground area at Sanctuary House (our women's shelter in Rochester). Several CCFCS staff also volunteered at Cornell Cooperative Extension and Bivona Child Advocacy Center. Your generosity helped make Day of Caring a beautiful event.

Congratulations to CCFCS President and CEO Lori VanAuken and CCFCS Board Member Lucia Colindres-Vasquez, who were honored at the Rochester Business Journal’s Women of Excellence awards ceremony May 14th.  VanAuken was inducted into the prestigious Circle of Excellence for her achievements in the community and for leading the way for other women. Colindres-Vasquez was named a Women of Excellence honoree. Both are pictured here with CCFCS Board member Iveth Reynolds.

More Than Work

CCFCS is proud to take part in #MORETHANWORK, a campaign to combat the critical shortage of direct support professionals across New York State. Together with the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, we're recruiting professionals who support and empower people with developmental disabilities.
