March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, a time to recognize the value, talents, and contributions of people with developmental disabilities while celebrating the power of inclusive communities.

At MARC, Inc., we see every day how people of all abilities come together to build stronger workplaces, bring new perspectives, and create a more inclusive world. 

Because of the contributions of people with developmental disabilities, we are building a stronger, more inclusive future—one where everyone, regardless of ability, has the chance to belong, make an impact, and be celebrated.

Thanks to our amazing MARC community, the 2026 Bowl-A-Thon raised nearly $33,500, the highest amount in Bowl-A-Thon history! That’s a 15% increase from last year!

Rob and our Project Search team wore a simple sign at Hartford Healthcare to encourage donations for their Bowl-A-Thon team. In less than a day, they helped raise up to $2,000 — proof that even small actions can make a big impact! 

Do you know an adult with a disability who is looking to build job skills and explore meaningful employment opportunities? Project SEARCH may be the perfect place to start.

Project SEARCH is a nine-month internship program that provides hands-on, real-world work experience designed to help participants gain valuable workplace skills and prepare for competitive employment.

We invite families, individuals, and community members to learn more at one of our upcoming information sessions, held from 4:30–5:30 p.m. at the 161 Sheldon Road Training Center:

Make a donation at Jersey Mike’s to support Special Olympics athletes across Connecticut. Every contribution helps athletes reach their goals and continue shining both on and off the field.

March 25 – Day of Giving:
On this special day, 100% of Jersey Mike’s sales will go directly to all Special Olympics Connecticut athletes.

Your support will also help two individuals supported by MARC who are on Team Connecticut, to compete in the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. They will be representing our state in bowling!

Join us on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Legislative Office Building, Room 2C (300 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT) for Family Hearing Day.

This event gives families, self-advocates, and supporters the opportunity to speak directly to Connecticut legislators about the importance of properly funding services and supports for the IDD community. Your voice can make a real difference in shaping policies that impact people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
