On Saturday, October 23, from 9:00am-2:00pm the YMCA is welcoming everyone out to a Community Open House.

Join us for guided tours of fitness, aquatics, and childcare areas, group fitness class demos (schedule posted below), personal training and nutrition counseling information, pickleball/racquetball games, bounce house and activities for kids, wellness tips, youth swimming assessments, snacks, and the chance to meet the YMCA staff team about program offerings for all ages and to learn about YMCA career opportunities.

If you love what you see and experience, the Y team will be ready to assist you with membership options. The normally assessed Capital Improvement Fee will be waived and new members will receive their choice of either a free personal training session, a free 4 week session of Octagon, a free private swim lesson, or a free 4 week session of our newest fitness class – AMPD! Looking for more ways to save? The Y offers a 10% discount for many area employers as part of the Community Employer Wellness Benefit program. There is also a Membership Assistance Program which can help subsidize the cost of membership for income qualified individuals or families as the Y strives to ensure no one is turned away because of the inability to pay.

As an added bonus, all attendees (who are not already members) will be entered for a chance to win a 1 year individual membership to the Y (a $724 value)!
Member please join us for these special class offerings during Open House so we can show folks just how much fun our classes can be!

The pool schedule is changing on Monday, October 18th and there are times where lessons and teams are running and the pool is CLOSED to both lap and open swim. Please review the schedule above to ensure that the pool is available at the time you plan to swim.

2 lap swim lanes are being used all morning on Saturday, October 16th for a lifeguard instructor course - there will still be three lanes for lap and one lane for open swim (which can be used for lap swim when not reserved by families).

In order to serve more swim lesson participants during the weekends we are in need of additional weekend swim instructors. If you, or someone you know, may be interested, please contact Alyson Murphy at

Did you know that our Masters Swim Team isn't just for highly skilled swimmers? It's also available to adult swimmers that want to strengthen their swimming abilities. If you can front crawl at least 50m you are eligible to join the team. Our coaches will help you build your stamina,  improve your technique - making your strokes more efficient, and improve your cardiovascular endurance so you can swim farther and faster!

Three skill levels available:
- Beginning lap swimmer
Experienced lap swimmer
Competitive swimmer

Masters Swim Team meets Mondays 6:00PM-7:45PM with the next session running from October 18th-December 13th. Late start registrations are accepted and prorated accordingly.

Members: $64
Y Guests (Non-Members): $110

In order to continue operating our Neighborhood Food Hub and Farm Stand, which provides free food and personal care items to local folks in need, we have an immediate need for volunteers. If you have any availability to assist during the following times, please contact Teresa Morehouse at Without volunteer support we may have to significantly decrease the hours of operation or temporarily suspend service. Any time you can pledge to support this important work is greatly appreciated!

If you are a Tompkins County resident with a child between the ages of 6 weeks and 12 years, please take this 3 minute survey to help guide the YMCA's future childcare services.

Your input is critical to ensuring that we are providing the types of care that are most needed in our community.

Please feel free to forward this survey to other local parents/guardians. The more data we collect, the better we can respond.

Mark your calendar! December 4th the YMCA Santa Run 5k and Family Elf Mile returns. Details and registration will be coming soon.

Love Living at Home is thankful to members, community volunteers and supporters for helping make our first five years so successful. Throughout this time, hundreds of programs have been attended by our members and literally thousands of services have been provided to members in need of some help.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, LLH has provided members with many needed services, including transportation, to appointments, grocery shopping and friendly phone calls that provide comfort and connection to our community. The LLH formula has worked well during this time of need. As we move forward, we want to be intentional in providing meaningful programs and services to our members.

In addition, for non-members, we are looking for your input on how LLH is perceived in the broader community and how we can better serve people 62 years and older in Tompkins County.

The survey has been developed with the generous help of The Cornell Institute for Translational Research on Aging (CITRA) and LLH Survey Task Force. It should take you less than 10 minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for volunteering your time.
