A Note from PAC Leader Kim Pedersen
As the field of patient advocacy evolves, I see that we are not only advocating and supporting the patients and their families, but also becoming a key resource for our staff. These “heroes” are the ones who receive and address issues in the moment. Our task is to coach, support and role model. We know that research shows if staff are happy the patient experience is better.
Consider what you might be able to do to assist staff in your role. If we can help staff understand how to be patient advocates in their everyday work, that will help achieve the goal of improving the patient experience.
Patient advocacy-our reach is vast and our mission good. We are needed!
