OF+MO is incredibly grateful to all those who contribute to the vibrant film ecosystem in Oklahoma, including our workforce, businesses, educators, regional and local film offices as well as our state, city and tribal leadership. OF+MO Announces Sponsorship of Thunderbird Drone Festival
OF+MO is proud to be a returning sponsor of the third annual Thunderbird Drone Festival taking place in Woodward, Okla., August 25-26. The Thunderbird Drone Festival is Oklahoma’s first and only drone film and photo festival and drone technology event, and one of the only drone events of its kind in the Midwest. Now, in its third year, the Thunderbird Drone Festival seeks to continue its upward trajectory with two jam-packed days of events, including an international film festival featuring Oklahoma film talent, drone technology panels and classes, first-person view (FPV) races and demos, a drone light show, a kid’s drone corral, and more. As part of the sponsorship of the Thunderbird Drone Festival, OF+MO will present the Best Oklahoma Film Award at the event’s award ceremony and exhibit at the festival in promotion of the state’s film industry and related workforce, infrastructure and drone technologies.

OF+MO Partners with Select Oklahoma to Present Film + Music Panels to City Leadership
OF+MO is proud to be a premier sponsor of the 2023 Select Oklahoma Conference on Economic Development taking place August 28-29 at the OMNI Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City. OF+MO will present a special pre-conference keynote session with renowned film industry professional and location manager Mike Fantasia (“Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Top Gun: Maverick”) who will also moderate a breakout session. Additionally, to highlight the music industry, OF+MO will present the breakout session “The Sound of Success: Amplifying Communities Through Music,” which will demonstrate how music is playing a key role in revitalizing communities and drawing attention to both Oklahoma’s cities and their local music talent and infrastructure.

Francis Tuttle Technology Center Offering Music Business Course THIS SATURDAY!
Francis Tuttle Technology Center is offering a music business course entitled Career Paths in Today's Music Business at their Danforth campus Saturday, August 5, 1-4 p.m. Music industry pros Patrick Conlon, Christina Giacona and Maggie McClure will share their real-life experiences and dive into the various career paths that exist in today's music business. This workshop is for anyone interested in the many careers that exist in the music/entertainment industry such as artist, songwriter, musician, composer, producer, engineer, management, booking, etc.
Prairie Surf Media Offering Screenwriting Workshop
Prairie Surf Media is offering a screenwriting workshop August 23 & 30, September 6 & 13. Taught by Matt Payne, Prairie Surf Media Co-CEO and professional screenwriter, “Finding Your Story” will offer screenwriters guidance in developing a script idea from inception to execution. From cultivating characters and story lines to honing in on what makes a story producible, this class focuses on getting it done. Working together in groups reminiscent of a writers room, students will come up with an idea, break the story, develop the outline, and will start the beginning of the script to present at the end of session. The takeaway of the session will be for students to be able to effectively conceptualize their scripts.

Film Friendly: On the Road
OF+MO recently had the opportunity to make presentations on the Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program in the communities of Okemah and Alva. Among the city leadership in attendance, we were able to provide valuable information on the overall film ecosystem in Oklahoma and how these communities can best position themselves for the future development of the industry in their regions. Many thanks to our local hosts, including the City of Okemah and Alva Chamber of Commerce.

Woodward Conference Center
The new home of this month’s Thunderbird Drone Festival, the Woodward Conference Center offers over 33,000 square feet of configurable meeting and exhibit space suitable for many different types of events, including trade shows, seminars, conventions, banquets, film premieres & festivals and more. Upon entry into the Woodward Conference Arts Center, guests will find a beautiful main concourse bathed in natural light that leads to a picturesque patio and well-manicured grounds that are available for those events with preferred open setting or outdoor accommodations.
From banquet to lecture style settings, the main exhibit hall can host 650-900 guests, and can also be divided into three separate rooms with separate audio/visual capabilities for medium sized events. A large dance floor, staging and specialist lighting are all available to hire and a catering kitchen is also available to rent along with dishes, glasses and flatware. Three additional meeting rooms can hold up to 70 people depending on the usage and layout.
Not only can the Woodward Conference Center serve as a potential filming location, but it can also provide an ideal basecamp for productions filming in the film friendly certified community of Woodward or surrounding area.
