Dean Amis Meets with Alumni
Dean Eric Amis recently traveled to Taiwan and Korea and had the opportunity to connect with members of The University of Akron Taiwanese and Korean Alumni Associations.  These established alumni groups represent the essence of being part of The University of Akron community beyond graduation.  Dean Amis was able to provide updates and share news of recent changes on campus and within the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering.  The visits brought back many memories for our alumni and provided a chance to talk about the exciting future of The University of Akron.
Interested in having the Dean visit with your regional alumni group?  Contact Development & Alumni Relations at cpspe@uakron.edu to arrange a visit.

Her "schoolroom" just happens to be the sprawling campus of Apple Inc., headquartered in Cupertino, Calif., where she is a senior module process engineer. Read more
UA Polymer scientists develops limb-saving material for injured soldiers
Soldiers wounded by gunshots and improvised explosive devices (IEDS) may soon be treated with a novel-limb-saving procedure. The surgery involves a cylinder-shaped polymeric shell that stabilizes the site of injury while the missing bone regenerates.  Scientists from The University of Akron, Houston Methodist Research Institute and Texas A&M University received a $6 million grant from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materials Command to advance their work in this limb-salvage technique. Read more
