For many in our industry, spring represents the need to make changes to prepare for the “harvest” of summer. At our company, we are ensuring we have the proper equipment for the construction season, but more so, making changes in our hiring and staff support to keep good people in this difficult labor market.

Recycling Certification Institute Update

The keynote speaker at the recent Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) convention in Las Vegas was Carlos Gutierrez, former Secretary of Commerce for the George W. Bush Administration. Gutierrez, who also was CEO of the Kellogg Co., worked to open trade channels for American business during his time in government. Hence, he has a better grasp than most of what is going on with American trade policy, and hearing his views are important for two reasons...

Legislative/Regulatory Committee Report

As the CDRA’s new Legislative Committee chair, I am excited to be able to work for our industry on the issues that help—and sometimes hinder—C&D recycling. Immediate Past Chair Ken Hoving did a great job of guiding the committee the past few years as we completed important work and moved many projects forward. We cannot thank him enough for his contribution to this committee. I hope to continue the tradition.
