Dean's Remarks
February – only 28 days – fits a lot into its 672 hours! Better known for Black History Month and Valentine’s Day, it also serves as Humpback Whale Awareness Month and hosts World Cancer Day (2/4), Random Act of Kindness Day (2/17), and World Day of Social Justice (2/20). Celebrate well and often!
February 2023 holds special importance for APU’s School of Education, as we participate in our dual accreditation visit – California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC, our state accreditor) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP, our national accreditor). With nearly 100 appointments, we will host 5 CAEP site visitors, 3 CTC Common Standards Reviewers, 6 CTC Program Standards Reviewers, and two CTC state consultants in our virtual site visit which will be February 12-15. Our faculty, staff, students, district partners, employers, alumni, University leadership, and others will engage in conversations about our program design, impact, and influence in the context of state and national standards. If you have been invited to one of these sessions, please say YES! and help us tell our story of our commitment to our mission statement...

But, in the 2021-22 year, she made specific and unique contributions that lead to our nomination of Dr. Guta for the Alice V. CougarLock
Your APU Account is a valuable resource that gives you access not only to your personal information & email, but also to other APU resources.  To help protect your account, APU is rolling out CougarLock to all APU accounts, including faculty, staff, students, and alumni.  CougarLock is a Multi-Factor Authentication process that adds an extra layer of security to your account.  In addition to your APU NetID and password, CougarLock also requires a 6-digit code generated by your smartphone.  This means that even if someone gets your NetID & password, they won’t be able to log into your account.

Enrolling is easy and only takes a few minutes.  While all accounts will be automatically enrolled over the summer, we are giving away prizes through the rest of the Spring 2023 semester for students & alumni who self-enroll.  Sign up today to protect your account and win some amazing prizes!
