Oregon’s PGE Parks: A Legacy of Recreation and Stewardship
Portland General Electric (PGE) parks are some of Oregon’s best-kept secrets for outdoor recreation. Located mainly along the Clackamas River and near Mt. Hood, these parks were developed around PGE hydroelectric facilities to provide the public with access to clean, scenic areas while protecting natural resources. Since most campgrounds in the state start taking reservations at least six months in advance. According to the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, 75% of the campsites in the state are booked through the end of August.
