Good morning! A Clemson Honors student was named an Astronaut Scholar. Faculty and staff celebrate service milestones this month; Clemson will host a Memorial Day ceremony this Sunday, May 24. 

• Physics major and Honors College student Drew Hodges is one of just 79 undergraduate students nationwide to earn a 2026 Astronaut Scholarship, recognizing exceptional academic achievement, curiosity and leadership. 

• Congratulations to Clemson University faculty and staff celebrating at least a decade of service this May.

• Clemson will host a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Scroll of Honor Memorial on Sunday, May 24, from 4-5 p.m. The event is open to the public. 

• Researchers at Clemson University and the Czech Republic created a new advanced material that could help computers think more like brains and then biodegrade under certain conditions at the end of its lifespan. Stephen Foulger, the Gregg-Graniteville Endowed Chair, served as the corresponding author on the project. 

• Clemson scientists, led by entomologist Zee Ahmed, recently organized a rapid-response framework designed to detect, study and manage invasive pests more efficiently.
