ShaQuina White, UMSL COE Advisor, Receives UMSL Hero Award

ShaQuina White started working as an academic advisor in 2018 after earning a master’s degree in counseling from UMSL in 2017 following a prior career in fashion merchandising. She helps undergraduate education students who are pursuing teacher certification pick courses and plan their academic futures.

College of Education Announces New Minor in Counseling and Human Support Services


The minor in Counseling is open to any undergraduate student at UMSL. It is especially relevant for students majoring in the social sciences or any other field requiring strong communication skills and awareness of cultural diversity and advocacy.

UMSL joining with St. Louis Fed to offer graduate certificate program in personal finance literacy education

UMSL and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis have worked together to develop a graduate certificate program in personal finance for educators. Instruction begins with an in-person seminar June 6-10 at the St. Louis Fed’s downtown office and continues online throughout the academic year starting in September.

Character Education for Emerging Leaders (CEEL) Now Accepting Applications


The Center for Character & Citizenship at the University of Missouri-St. Louis is now recruiting participants for the year-long academy known as Character Education for Emerging Leaders (CEEL). The CEEL Academy has been designed by Dr. Marvin W. Berkowitz and Dr. Melinda C. Bier to help school leaders understand their role in creating a school in which character development and servant leadership is a priority.
