Howdy from Aggieland!
My name is Lauren Haverkamp, and I am here to serve you, our esteemed Former Students, as the School of Medicine's Former Student Relations Coordinator. I want to introduce myself so you can meet the person behind these newsletters.
I graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Business, married my high school sweetheart, and began my career full-time with Texas A&M in 2017. My husband and I have passionately served the Texas A&M community since graduating.
I am excited at the opportunity to work with our Former Students on ways that they can either get involved or stay involved with the School of Medicine and how I can best serve you and your classmates after graduation.
If you have any questions for me or would like to find ways to be more involved with the School of Medicine as a Former Student, please do not hesitate to reach out.
I look forward to building relationships with each of you!
Best,
Lauren Haverkamp '17

Dr. Israel Liberzon leads a group working to ensure mental health care for Ukrainian people who’ve been traumatized by the Russian invasion.
|
Dr. Liberzon's leadership, Texas A&M heads the team of experts from several U.S. and one Ukrainian university, as well as the Zelenskaya Initiative for Mental Health, to ensure access to evidence-based trauma care for the Ukrainian people.
He said the idea came after discussions with Dr. Tetiana Nickelsen, a research scientist in his lab; both Liberzon and Nickelsen were born in Ukraine.

I am excited to announce a new program launching with our incoming M1 class!
Former Students who graduated between 2013 and 2023 have a unique opportunity to impact the lives of M1 students. Through our near-peer program, Former and Current students will be matched and meet throughout the school year to discuss the non-academic parts of their medical school career. This is a great opportunity for Former Students to give back to current students at their alma mater.
