Fall 2022 Military-Affiliated Student Welcome!

As we begin the start of a new academic year, the Office of Student Veterans wants to extend a warm welcome back to campus. The start of the Fall 2022 semester is a great time to become reacquainted with familiar faces of friends and faculty and begin to build new relationships. For those returning, we are glad to have you back as you continue your academic journey.
For new students just beginning at Duke, we are eager to introduce you to our military-affiliated community. Be encouraged to connect with our office, graduate assistant, or other members you meet throughout the year.
Warm regards,

The Duke Student Veterans Office

Samuel Clay Adams, Vice Dean of Students
  Grace Sullivan Zirkle, Associate Director
  Tyler Van Parys, Staff Assistant
  Nicholas Harrelson, Graduate Assistant

Office of Student Veterans Events

The Student Veteran Open House will take place on Wednesday, 31 August from 1600-1800 in the Dean of Students Office (300 Crowell, East Campus). This event will allow you to meet a few of our campus partners including contacts from the Durham VA, Registrar (education benefits), DuWell, CAPS, Athletics, and fellow student veterans, as well as the opportunity to pick up plenty of Student Veteran gear and swag.

Additionally, we would also love to see you, your partner, and your children for our fall Opening Hail on Saturday, 17 September from 1400-1600. The event will be located at Hi-Wire Brewing in Durham, NC. Please come out and join us as we welcome the new academic year!

We Need Your Voice

The student veteran and military-affiliated community experience is of great importance to our office. The new academic year is a chance for all of us to create and contribute to a welcoming community that embraces student veterans and military-affiliated members across campus.
We want to know your Fall 2022/Spring 2023 programming and newsletter preferences so that we can focus on what matters most to you.
The Office of Student Veterans also likes to highlight the stories and accomplishments of Duke's student veteran population. If you would like to contribute to the Community Highlight portion of our newsletter, please contact our Graduate Assistant Nicholas Harrelson by clicking here.
