The Iowa Finance Authority Housing Tax Credit team is reviewing the energy standards for the 2026 QAP and is hosting a discussion on the possibility of incorporating the National Green Building Standard (NGBS) program as a minimum energy requirement for all projects.
The NGBS Green standards have been adopted by 30 other state QAPs and is an ANSI-approved green building standard within the International Code Council’s (ICC) suite of building codes, which means that NGBS mandatory practices largely derive from baseline international codes that builders, architects, and contractors are already familiar with.
