The Longo Group, an independent wealth management firm based in Slidell, Louisiana, has donated $20,000 to the University of New Orleans College of Business Administration.

California Wine Education Experience
|
Chef Mark Springfloat, Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW), and Dr. Bridget Bordelon accompanied ten students from the Lester E. Kabacoff School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Administration on a seven-day trip to California to experience wine tasting and hands-on education in winery operations.

| UNO-Innsbruck International Summer School
|
The UNO-Innsbruck International Summer School program ran from Jul. 1 to Aug. 11, 2023. This long-standing program was created in 1976 and was made an official partnership in 1983. Our own Dr. Walter “Dub” Lane served as academic director, and COBA faculty Dr. Randy Kearns, instructors Susan Clade and Jaimee Carreras, and retired instructor Bob Brown accompanied the students on the international educational journey.

Innsbruck Students at Swarovski
|
In July, Swarovski invited students in the UNO Innsbruck International Summer School to learn about sustainability. The students were given behind-the-scenes access to gain an insight into the importance and management of sustainability in a manufacturing company.

| Kiwanis Scholarship Lunch
|
On August 1, 2023, The Kiwani Club of St. Bernard-Arabi awarded two UNO students with eight-semester scholarships.

Finance professor Gregory Price, was quoted in a "U.S. News & World Report" article titled, “One Culprit in Rising College Costs: Administrative Expenses,,” in which he discusses the “bureaucratization” of higher education.

| | Colleen Fahey, branding expert and U.S. managing director of Sixieme Son, spoke virtually to Dr. Elyria Kemp’s Executive MBA marketing class and discussed with the students how sound can be vital to brand-building.

Dr. Nina Balan, who received both her Master of Science from the Lester E. Kabacoff School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism and her Ph.D in Planning and Urban Studies from the University of New Orleans, is now the director of strategic initiatives at The Beach.

Jarred Adams was announced in April to be director of health, safety and environment at HOST. Adams received his MBA from UNO in 2021, and he is bringing his experience to HOST, “developing standardized safety systems and programs to strengthen workplace safety.”

| Janelle Wald received her bachelor's degree in marketing from UNO in 2004 and her master’s in nonprofit management from Regis University. In April, Wald was named the new executive director of the Crookston Area Chamber of Commerce in Minnesota.
