Join us for Parent & Family Orientation!
Attend on Sunday, August 18 OR Monday, August 19
Select the day that works best for your schedule or that aligns with your student’s move-in. (Families moving in on Saturday are welcome to join the Sunday session.)
Due to space limitations, each family is allowed up to two attendees, and each person must register individually.

| 📍 Ask your student to monitor their AU email inbox to look for a welcome email previewing New Student Orientation (August 20-23). Remind them to read through the email fully as it contains a lot of important details leading up to and during orientation days.
|
|
|
To submit proof of immunization, students must:
1-Log into the Student Health Portal.
2-Under the "My Forms" section, select "Immunization History" and complete the form with the dates of the vaccinations from their immunization record.
3-After submitting the form, select the link to upload a scanned version of their immunization history signed by their medical provider.
Records will be reviewed, and students will receive a secure message in their portal within approximately five business days.
Students who do not complete this requirement will be able to attend classes, however registration for future semesters will be denied until the requirement is met.

| 📖 Has your student gotten a copy of their "community text" to complete the summer required reading and prepare for their College Writing course? Author Dr. Ashley Shew’s will be at American University during the 27th Annual Writer as Witness Colloquium this fall.

| Apply for the Emerging Eagles Leadership Program |
📒 Students have only a few days left to apply for American University’s Emerging Eagles Leadership Program. Tailored for first-year students but open to all, this program empowers students through leadership development, mentorship, and community engagement.
Students apply through Engage. Application closes on July 31.

| Billing & Health Insurance |
💰 The first tuition bill is due this Thursday, August 1. If your student has established you as a proxy, on the Student Accounts website in the proxy section, select your student's name to access their account and make payments [do not select Parent Name (You)]. Click on ‘Account Activity’ to view an itemized list of fees and financial aid.
Visit the tuition refund insurance website for information on Grad Guard tuition refund insurance.
🩺 Students are automatically charged for health insurance unless they submit a health insurance waiver request indicating they are covered by a comparable insurance plan. Visit here for details and to submit a health insurance waiver request.
