Four finalists have been chosen in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts dean search. The candidates will each visit campus and present a seminar addressing their broad vision for the College.
The first candidate will present today at 11 a.m. in the Price Gilbert Scholars Event Theater and online. Please register to attend the webinar online.

Victoria Chang Wins Prestigious Forward Prize |
Victoria Chang, the Bourne Chair in Poetry, has been named the winner of the prestigious U.K. poetry award The Forward Prize for best poetry collection. Chang won for her new volume, With My Back to the World, inspired by the work of artist Agnes Martin.

The Inclusive Leaders Academy, now seeking members for its ninth cohort, cultivates professional leadership and legacy development for Georgia Tech people leaders. Upon completion of the program, members of the ninth cohort will join more than 550 previous cohort members as practicing Culture Champions. Anyone who is interested can apply.

Ivan Allen College faculty were awarded seed grant funding from the Strategic Energy Institute and GTRI for two multidisciplinary research projects. Adam Stulberg, Jenna Jordan, and Margaret Kosal (International Affairs) will work with aerospace engineering faculty to research "Energy Infrastructure Security and Risk Assessment Through Interactive Wargaming." Bobby Harris, Dylan Brewer, and Laura Taylor (Economics), as well as Micah Ziegler (Public Policy) will work with GTRI researchers to study "The Strategic Mineral Economy: Challenges and Opportunities for Critical Resources."

Amit Prasad (History and Sociology) delivered remarks at the opening reception for an exhibition of artist Krishna Reddy's work titled "The Mystery of Time and Becoming" at the Atlanta Printmaker's Studio. Reddy pioneered the simultaneous color printing technique known as viscosity etching. The works on display are curated from Prasad's own collection of Reddy's work.

Chris Hayter (Public Policy) delivered the keynote at the Technology Transfer Society Annual Meeting, co-hosted by Vrjie University of Brussels and the Free University of Brussels, titled “Conceptualizing Academic Entrepreneurship as a Psycho-Social Phenomenon: Opportunities in the Literature.”

Melissa Foulger (Literature, Media, and Communication) has been nominated for six Suzi Bass Awards, including Best Director of a Play, for her production of Mercury by Steve Yockey at Actor’s Express, with the awards ceremony scheduled for November.

Three School of Public Policy faculty members presented research and were honored at the American Political Science Association (APSA) annual meeting in September. Zachary Taylor presented research on presidential rhetoric and economic performance. Hans Klein chaired a session on surveillance technologies in democracies and autocracies and also presented in a roundtable. Harry Oppenheimer received the 2024 APSA International Collaboration section’s best dissertation award.
