Serving on a Search Committe |
Serving on a faculty or staff search committee is often framed as a routine act of university service. In reality, it is one of the most consequential decisions an academic community can make. When you sit on a search committee, you are not merely filling an open position; you are shaping the institutional culture, student experience, and long-term trajectory of your organization for years to come.
Understanding the gravity of this responsibility requires recognizing the weight of your role and the non-negotiable imperative of strict compliance. Search participants must understand:
|
- Upholding equity and guarding against bias
-
The requirement of absolute confidentiality
- Standardized processes protect the University
|
The HR Recruitment team offers a monthly live training via zoom to prepare anyone involved in a search on exactly what will be expected of them. It is highly recommended that anyone currently involved in a search or planning to be involved in a search attend this very informative training session. Hiring Managers, Search Chairs, Committee Members, Admins, and any other interested parties are encouraged to attend this 1.5 hour training facilitated by the Manager of TWU HR Recruitment, Lisa Taylor, SPHR. No need to RSVP or sign up. Simply click on the zoom link below to join the September 25th session.
