Dear Friend of YL Haiti,

As camp season begins in Haiti, this passage has become our prayer.

Every summer, young people face obstacles long before they ever arrive at camp. Some travel for hours by motorcycle over rough roads before boarding a crowded bus. Others spend more on transportation than the $4 camp fee itself. Many save for months in a small piggy bank called a Ti Kochon just to afford the journey. At times, vehicles break down, forcing groups to spend the night on the road before continuing.

Yet our leaders persevere to make sure every kid gets to camp.

Why? Because camp is more than an event. It is a place where young people are known, loved, and invited into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.

We are praying that God will continue to "make straight paths" this summer, not only by providing safe travel, but by removing every obstacle that could keep a young person from hearing the Good News.

One of those young people is Louigiste Sasoo from the Lascahobas Area.

A leader invited Louna, and Louna invited Louigiste (pictured in the center) to camp. Like many campers, simply getting there required determination and sacrifice. But once she arrived, everything changed.

During club and throughout the camp experience, Louigiste encountered the love of Jesus in a deeply personal way. As she listened to the messages and watched others worship, she was overcome with emotion. Despite her fears and hesitation, she decided to give her life to Jesus Christ.

Today, Louigiste is returning home with a desire to leave behind the things that draw her away from God and to continue growing in her relationship with Christ with the help of her leader.

Preparing the Way Together 

We were deeply encouraged by the way God moved through Walk for Hope this year. Nearly 2000 people across the United States and Haiti walked, prayed, and gave, raising $199,000 to help remove barriers that keep young people in Haiti from experiencing camp. We are especially grateful that 1828 people in Haiti participated as well, raising $14,000 locally through Walk for Hope. Together, we are seeing God provide in remarkable ways!

Every prayer, every act of generosity, and every word of encouragement helps remove barriers so more young people can encounter the love of Jesus Christ. We are grateful to serve alongside you as God continues to prepare the way.
