Cold Weather and Winter Parking Reminders
Cold Weather and Winter Parking Reminders

Cold Weather Tips

With cold weather and snow approaching here are some tips to keep in mind:
  • Keep your thermostat set at 67 degrees and above to prevent the freezing of pipes.
  • Have a plan for what to do if your heat goes out.
  • Check your lease to see who is responsible for snow removal; failing to remove snow from sidewalks can results in fines from the city.
  • If you do not plan on returning to your rental after break, keep these tips in mind.

Winter Parking Regulations

City of Milwaukee residents should be aware of winter parking regulations that run from December 1, 2020 until March 1, 2021.
  • Posted signs take precedence. Please read the street signs for winter parking instructions BEFORE YOU PARK.
  • NO PARKING is allowed on through highways and bus routes from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.
When a snow emergency is declared, alternate side parking is required city-wide from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Sign up for the Preferred Tenant Program! It's a free, online rental education course on Canvas. Participating landlords offer discounts on rent to students who complete the program.
