Dear Soka community and friends,
As the semester winds down, I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the university community for your efforts to ensure we successfully and safely conclude another semester. I would also like to thank our extended community of donors, alumni, and supporters for always keeping SUA close to your hearts and showing up in the ways you did this past year. In fact, we recently honored two community leaders, Orange County Supervisor Lisa Bartlett and Aliso Viejo Mayor Ross Chun, with SUA’s Highest Award of Honor for being pillars of support for our campus.
I am deeply appreciative to our generous donors who fully support SUA based on our mission as envisioned by our university founder Daisaku Ikeda. This generosity was on full display at our 18th annual Celebrating a Vision of Peace Gala on Oct. 8. This was our most successful gala to date, raising a record-breaking amount for our student scholarship fund with 58 sponsors and nearly 500 guests joining in person or remotely. I extend my deepest gratitude to our incredible Gala Committee for its work in planning and preparing for the gala. It is truly a yearlong project, and without such dedicated work, we could not create such a successful and joyful event each year.
To our third-year and fourth-year students going to study abroad next semester, please have a safe and meaningful experience. We look forward to welcoming you back on campus soon. To the rest of our community and supporters, I wish you a safe, restful, and happy holidays.
Sincerely,
|

"In the darkest of hours, it is true friendship that becomes the greatest source of strength. Simple words of encouragement from a friend can instill incalculable courage in our hearts...No matter how far the world may slide into chaos and uncertainty, people can forge on, no matter how dire their plight, as long as they have real friends who share the same purpose and ideals in life."
