Symposium Focuses on Exemplary Scholarship at GW |
In an event held to coincide with the inauguration of Ellen M. Granberg as the 19th president of the George Washington University, a panel of faculty experts convened to discuss excellence in academics and research. President Granberg and Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Christopher Alan Bracey each delivered welcoming remarks. Pamela M. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research has launched GW Research Commons, a new website that showcases the resources and offices that support our scholarly enterprise. The site includes featured content, upcoming research events, and links that are organized by category.

Last Call for Nominations: GW and OVPR Faculty Awards |
Each year, GW honors excellence in teaching, research, and service among faculty members and graduate teaching assistants. Nominations are currently open for 2024 awards, including OVPR's Distinguished Career Awards, Early Career Awards, and Research Mentorship Award. The initial nomination form must be submitted by Friday, November 17, 2023. Supporting materials must be submitted by Friday, January 8, 2024. View the full list of awards and nomination forms.

Apply to Participate in the 2024 New Venture Competition |
The 2024 New Venture Competition (NVC) is now accepting applications. NVC provides GW students, faculty, staff, and alumni with a real-world experience in developing, testing, and launching their own startups, business, or social ventures. NIH Loan Repayment Program |
The NIH Loan Repayment Programs (LRPs) are designed to recruit and retain highly qualified health professionals into biomedical or biobehavioral research careers. The LRPs repay up to $50,000 annually of a researcher's qualified educational debt in return for a commitment to engage in NIH mission-relevant research. From FY2012 - FY2021, the success rate for LRP applications was 51%! Applications for new and renewal LRP awards are due by Thursday, November 16, 2023. NEH Humanities Research Centers on Artificial Intelligence |
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Research Programs has launched its long-anticipated new program, Humanities Research Centers on Artificial Intelligence (AI). NEH seeks to use these centers to spur innovative research in the humanities or humanistic social sciences that will better equip and inform the public to engage in discourse about AI and the societal impacts of AI. The maximum award is $750,000 over a period of three years (up to $500,000 in outright funds plus an additional $250,000 in federal matching funds). Applications are due February 14, 2024. NEH program officers will review and provide feedback on draft proposals emailed to AICenters@neh.gov by January 10, 2024. These draft reviews are optional.
