Dear Parents and Families,
In just a few weeks, your Jumbo will be moving into their residence hall!
When you arrive to check-in, you and your student will receive a printed schedule for the day’s events. You can preview highlights online in advance, including parent and family programs. At check-in, your student will receive their Tufts ID and, if applicable, the key to their residence hall room.
Programs for parents and families on move-in days take place from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Your student’s Pre-O or Orientation activities will begin around the same time.
You are also invited to attend the Matriculation Ceremony on Thursday, September 3 at 10 a.m. ET. The ceremony is held outdoors on the Academic Quad, and will also be livestreamed to watch remotely with live transcription; links will be available on the Orientation website. If severe weather requires the ceremony to move indoors, the indoor venue can accommodate students only. Families who are on campus will be directed to nearby indoor spaces to watch the livestream of the ceremony.
RSVPs are not required to attend programs for parents and families during move-in. However, if you haven’t already, please take our brief survey to let us know which events you plan to attend.

Arrival, Check-in, and Parking |
-
If your student is moving into the Medford/Somerville campus, your first stop will be the Joyce Cummings Center (JCC), at 177 College Avenue, Medford. Please check in there before heading to your student’s residence hall to move them in. If you’re arriving by car, staff will be on hand at the JCC to direct you to the appropriate parking area.
-
If your student is moving into the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) campus, please begin your day at 1047 Beacon Street in Brookline. Once your student is settled into their residence at Beacon Street, you’re encouraged to head to the Medford/Somerville campus to participate in parent and family programming. There will also be activities available for students. Parking is available at the Dowling Parking Garage, at 419 Boston Avenue, Medford.
- If your student is moving in on August 28 for a Pre-Orientation program, please plan to arrive during the specific time window assigned to your student according to their Pre-O program. These timed arrivals help ensure a smooth and efficient move-in process, minimizing wait times and long lines. Individual Pre-O programs will be in touch with your student with their program schedule for move in day.
