Join us for unique discussions on a wide variety of topics for everyone in the neuroendocrine tumor community.
James Howe, MD - surgial oncologist
September 3rd - Heloisa Soares, MD, PhD, medical oncologist; NET Program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) at the University of Utah; Co-Physician Leader, GI Clinical Trials Research Group; and Assistant Professor at HCI. In 2019, Dr. Soares was elected as a member of the board of directors for The North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (NANETS), where she is also a member of the guidelines and communications committees. Additionally, she is a member of the NCI NET taskforce and member of SWOG and NRG cooperative groups. In 2018, Dr. Soares was named one of 40 Under 40 in Cancer, an awards program identifying and recognizing the contributions being made across the field of oncology by individuals under the age of 40 years old by the he Lynx Group™ and McGivney Global Advisors.
Jonathan Strosberg, MD - medical oncologist
September 10th - Charles Nutting, DO, FSIR, interventional radiologist, Endovascular Consultants of Colorado; internationally renowned for his image-guided liver cancer therapies; has performed more than 2500 Y90 radioembolizations, bland and chemoembolizations of liver tumors. Dr. Nutting is an expert in prostate artery embolization (PAE), treating over 400 patients and training other physicians around the country. His two-decades of experience in general interventional radiology has made him proficient in all areas of minimally invasive image-guided surgery.

September 17th - Tom Bajoras and Lisa Yen, Tom Bajoras is a composer, pianist, audio producer, and NET patient; Lisa Yen, NP, NBC-HWC is the Program Director of LACNETS (the Los Angeles Carcinoid and Neuroendocrine Tumor Society). Tom founded a software company, Art+Logic, that has created custom software for Apple, Disney, Fox, NBC, and Google, among hundreds of others. His most recent albums are Surprised By Beauty, released in 2018, and By Day or by Night, released in 2020. In 2015 Tom was diagnosed with a pancreatic NET which had metastasized to his liver. Before her husband’s diagnosis, Lisa Yen was a nurse practitioner hospitalist for more than 12 years. She is now a patient advocate and a Nationally Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach. She is passionate about helping to improve the quality of life for all whose lives have been touched by NETs. Active in community service, Lisa has participated in medical missions in Haiti and Kenya.
September 24th Pamela Ryan, RN, BSN, ONN-CG, is an Oncology Nurse Navigator with the Ochsner Medical Center Neuroendocrine Tumor Clinic (NOLANETS) in Louisiana. She was a vital part of building NOLANETS after Hurricane Katrina and was responsible for its overall growth. She took the lead in the start-up of an Infusion Center and started many service lines involving complex treatment options for neuroendocrine tumors such as liver-directed therapy, MIBG therapy, and PRRT (peptide receptor radionuclide therapy). Pam created the guidelines on neuroendocrine cancers for oncology nurse navigators and she wrote the protocol on pre-workup for NET patients to ensure that they get the most out of their visit. As an advocate for the NET community, Pam started the first Louisiana patient support group for NET patients and serves as its cohost, served as host and co-coordinator of 3 national NET patient conferences, and co-hosted a regional North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (NANETS) professional conference.
