Funding Opportunities and Events
Funding Opportunities and Events
Dear Members of the Notre Dame and the Indiana University School of Medicine-South Bend research communities:
We hope that you are having a great summer and are finding time to recharge as we look forward to another busy academic year. As you know, funding opportunities are offered regularly through the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (Indiana CTSI).
The next deadline for the Collaboration in Translational Research Award is August 2, 2021. Notre Dame has had several successful applications for the award including two in 2020:
  • Xin Lu, assistant professor, Biological Sciences, Notre Dame, and Feng Guo, assistant professor, Intelligent Systems Engineering, IU Bloomington, $75,000 for a tumor-on-a-chip platform for modeling immuno-oncology in prostate cancer.
  • Thomas O’Sullivan, assistant professor, Electrical Engineering, Notre Dame, and Silvina Ferradal, Intelligent Systems Engineering, IU Bloomington, $75,000 for early prediction of withdrawal in infants with prenatal opioid exposure using quantitative diffuse optical spectroscopy.
We hope to continue that success in 2021, so please apply if it is relevant to your research!
There are many other upcoming opportunities from the Indiana CTSI to share. Funding opportunities and events are always available on the central Indiana CTSI website; however, we have curated some of them for you below.

About the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute
The Indiana CTSI includes Indiana University, Purdue University, and the University of Notre Dame as the major academic partners along with a number of other institutions and entities in the state.
It is funded by a Clinical and Translational Sciences Award from the National Institutes of Health amounting to some $33 million for the current five-year funding period of 2018-2023. This funding is supplemented by additional support from many other institutional and corporate partners.
Funding is provided to researchers by many mechanisms to promote translational and collaborative research among the partner institutions.
