The City of Waco has recognized two longtime Baylor Law School professors for their exceptional service, scholarship, and impact on both the community and the legal profession. During a ceremony at City Hall, Waco Mayor Jim Holmes proclaimed October 7, 2025, as Elizabeth Miller Day and Tom Featherston Day, honoring the professors for their distinguished careers and ongoing contributions.

Students Ryan Glass, Wyatt Hicks, Whit Long, and Kenadie Wilde worked together to form the Baylor Law Real Estate and Construction Organization (BLRECO), with the primary goal of connecting students with alumni and resources in both real estate and construction law. Professor Kayla Landeros, JD ’08, joined BLRECO as faculty advisor, bringing extensive experience in real estate and construction transactions, including her service as City Attorney for the City of Temple.

The Durham, Pittard & Spalding, L.L.P. Fall Moot Court Competition recently concluded with an impressive final round highlighting Baylor Law School students’ preparation, skill, and resilience. After multiple rounds of arguments over three weeks, the team of Jake Hatcher and Sam Hagen emerged as this year’s champions, representing the Respondent. The team of Katie Stepek and Savanna Walker earned runner-up honors after a strong performance in the final round.
