Juliet Ramirez Thomas recently traveled to Amman, Jordan, for the Education USA Jordan 2024 University Fair, representing Georgia Tech to recruit future Yellow Jackets. The U.S. and Jordan Embassies sponsored the fair, which included 35 U.S. higher education institutions to promote their undergraduate, graduate, and short-term programs and recruit Jordanian students.
After the fair, Ramirez Thomas and Nada Azem, GT College of Design, continued their recruitment efforts by visiting two local k-12 schools, the National Orthodox School and the American Community School Amman-Shmaisani.
Ramirez Thomas shook hands with the U.S. Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Yael Lempert, and gave her AE swag during a high-profile luncheon that included Jordanian higher education institution presidents and senior government officials.
Riding on the long-haul commercial aircraft Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was also a highlight for her because she’d never been on one before. On her return flight, she ventured into the cockpit to thank the pilots for a safe 14-hour flight.
“Traveling over 12,000 miles overseas to engage with local Jordanians and recruiting future Yellow Jackets was truly an honor. I love going the extra mile to promote education.”
