Whether you are just exploring law school interests or getting ready to apply, Jayhawk Pre-Law Advising is here to support you. To help you connect with us and other new students like you, we want to invite you to a special opportunity. Our Academic Sunday event will be on August 23, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM in the Kansas Memorial Union (The Jay Room).

Academic Sunday is just one of our Hawk Week traditions to help you find your KU community. Jayhawk Pre-Law Advising hosts a meet-and-greet every fall semester and helps new students interested in law school meet each other. You are encouraged to attend both Jayhawk Pre-Law Advising's and your academic school or department's welcome event.

At KU, being pre-law just means that you are exploring or preparing for law school. This means that pre-law students come from across the university, and they major in everything from English to accounting, music to history, and sports management to social work. So, pre-law isn't a major. It's just a declaration of your interests (and we think it's a pretty exciting one).

If you're not sure about your major, you can always doublecheck your declared major and class schedule in Enroll & Pay.

There are so many reasons join us on Sunday, August 23! This is the first day before classes start, so come celebrate your next steps with us. Our welcome event will be on the first floor of the Kansas Memorial Union, and you are welcome to visit anytime between 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM.

This event is also your first opportunity to meet other pre-law students and connect with campus clubs. Jayhawk Pre-Law Advising has invited KU clubs and organizations that many students have found helpful on their path to law school. Students can also meet KU's pre-law advisor and talk with current law students. Free giveaways and KU swag are available to student attendees, while supplies last.

Take a deep breath. The best way you can prepare for law school is simple: do well in classes and find your flock at KU. Law schools typically admit students who have excellent GPAs and good scores on standardized tests, like the LSAT or GRE. We recommend aiming for a 3.5 or higher GPA while at KU while to be competitive.

You are going to meet many Jayhawks with similar interests, so make connections! Your classmates can help you study or navigate college life, and college is better with good Jayhawks in your life.

Try to also meet with a pre-law advisor at-least once during your first year. Your pre-law advisor can help you explore legal interests, learn about the law school application process, and find cool classes that help you prepare. Speaking of classes, be sure to keep these important dates in mind:
