APRIL VOLUNTEERING
Gardening here we come!
Greetings, Volunteers!

April is here, and we can't wait to start gardening and enjoy some fresh air!

We have a number of volunteer opportunities, but we are always looking for more. In light of COVID-19, many organizations can no longer continue with group volunteering. If you know of any organizations that are currently looking for volunteers, please don't hesitate to reach out!

As always, to sign up for an event this month and receive a month of free Garbage to Garden service, RSVP by email, and we will help answer any questions you may have. Remember, events are first-come, first-serve.

Happy Composting,

First Baptist Church of Portland Food Pantry
The First Baptist Church of Portland food pantry serves hundreds of individuals each month by collaborating with local fresh food sources and distributing to families in need. They welcome all who come to serve our neighbors in the Greater Portland area! FBC is currently looking for volunteers who have a heart for ensuring people have enough food to eat and are available on Wednesdays to organize and distribute food and/or break down and clean up. They are operating a 'no contact' food pantry for the safety of volunteers and patrons. Volunteers would be able to practice social distancing and be safe and healthy.

Wednesdays: 10:30am - 1:30pm
Location: 360 Canco Road, Portland, ME

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program
Brunswick, ME
Hungry neighbors in our community need your help to feed their families! Mid Coast Hunger Prevention has a number of initiatives that work to address food insecurity and volunteers place a vital role in fulfilling their mission by preparing meals, distributing groceries, picking up donated food and a variety of other tasks.

This month, MCHPP could use volunteers to sort food donations in the mornings from 8:30-11:30 Monday through Saturday or prepare lunch from 8:45-1:00.
Volunteering with Preble Street
The mission of Preble Street is to provide accessible barrier-free services to empower people experiencing problems with homelessness, housing, hunger, and poverty, and to advocate for solutions to these problems.
Feed your hungry neighbors! Help serve any of 3 meals a day, 7 days a week at the Preble Street Resource Center Soup Kitchen. Volunteers assist with breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or at the weekly Thursday Food Pantry.
