In this second video, Dean Perry says, "Change is never easy. People have different ways of responding to change, a different tolerance for change. I really want to recognize that and honor that and affirm that. The fact that people were attached to a prior brand. That's more evidence of what George Mason is. And so imagine us going to the next level now. Being able to refresh, being able to respond to change and evolution, and being able to embrace. A new look. It's not going to change who we are. In many, many ways it's going to further affirm who we are and say it very boldly and very proudly."
Learn all about the new George Mason brand at brand.gmu.edu.
Two-year rollout: The Office of University Branding will guide the university on a gradual, two-year transition into the new look. That extended time will be necessary to enable a more natural transition into the new logo usage, because this is designed as a budget-neutral project.
College logo: Right now, the College only has the College-level logo available here. Remember to use all printed material with the old logo that you have before printing or purchasing new materials with the new logo. Michelle Thompson will continue to update the College on department logos and material updates as they are available.

Steps challenge - semester results! |
It’s here -- the moment we’ve all been waiting for: and the unit winner is… Nutrition and Food Studies! After a semester race that was almost continually neck-and-neck, NFS pulled ahead of OSA in the final week to become the winning unit! A congratulatory event will be planned with NFS at the semester’s end, at which time the Steps Challenge trophy will transfer to the department for proud display until the results of the next semester of walking.
The individual winner of most cumulative steps, perhaps as no surprise, is Michelle Williams who logged 1,846,638 steps! Bragging rights also go to Kathy Prudden with 1,474,339 steps and Gilbert Gimm with 1,171,149, both of whom also broke the million steps mark for the semester.
Congratulations to all walkers!
The Steps Challenge is now going on summer vacation and plans to be back in the fall semester.

Updated telework agreements |
As we continue to navigate through our hybrid and remote work arrangements, it's essential to ensure that all necessary documentation is up to date. If you are currently teleworking any number of days, you need to have a current telework document on file. We also ask that your current work schedule is posted on your office door/window or workstation allowing it to be visible to colleagues, students, and visitors.
Complete the telework document here.
Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated, as it helps the College uphold the efficiency and integrity of our remote work processes. If you have any questions or need further assistance, reach out to your supervisor or Lisa Joyner.

From the associate dean of research |
Do you study primary care settings? You may have noticed, NIH is investing in primary care. Whether it’s cancer screening, substance use disorder, mental health, firearms, nursing, or other targets, you will see announcements focused on primary care settings. In addition to announcements from NIMH, NICHD, NIDA, and NIDDK, AHRQ has been a long-time funder of primary care work. Type “primary care” here to see what is new.
Did you miss the training on SPIN the searchable databases for federal and non-federal funding opportunities? Here is a recording.
Free training on the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) Study data from ICPSR. Online or in-person. Apply by May 31! Learn more here.
Register here.
The PATH Study is a household-based, nationally representative, longitudinal cohort study of approximately 46,000 adults and youth (ages 12-17) in the United States, including smokers and non-smokers. The PATH Study collects data from adults and youth. The first wave of data collection included responses from over 32,000 adults and 13,000 youth. Each adult interview respondent who completed the Wave 1 interview was asked to provide up to three biospecimens: urine, blood, and buccal cells. Buccal cells were collected for a limited time. This workshop will utilize hands-on examples to better understand the PATH Study sample design and weighting. Specifically, attendees will gain a better understanding of how to conduct longitudinal analyses to estimate change over time, as well as pseudo-cross-sectional analyses to estimate prevalence, through lecture, discussion, and hands-on exercises The workshop will be offered in two formats (in-person or virtual-only).

PC computers upgrade Windows version 10 to version 11 |
For PC users only: Microsoft is discontinuing support for Windows 10, necessitating the college to update all Windows 10 to 11 computers by October 2025. Windows 11 requires a specific computer type to run the operating system. If a computer cannot be updated to Windows 11, it will be replaced to ensure continued functionality and security. IT Services has developed a process to update eligible computers to Windows 11. The upgrade will not delete files on your computer but will update the Windows operating system. IT services made the Windows 11 update available using the Software Center on your computer. (Mac computers will not receive the Windows 11 update.)
CPH ITS is looking for volunteers to pilot the upgrade process. If you want to pilot the update to Windows 11, please get in touch with Matthew Hicks.
