Reminders & Announcements
| |
- Following his 31-year tenure as Chancellor, the longest term in University of California history, Chancellor Yang plans to step down at the end of the coming academic year and return to teaching, research, and service as a professor. Read the Chancellor’s message.
- Move-in to campus housing starts Thursday, September 19 through Sunday, September 22 for undergraduate students. Students will find the link to register for a move-in timeslot in their housing assignment email. Remember to bring your printable parking permit and encourage your student to get their Access ID to bring at check-in.
- Did you know The Club & Guest House is a 34-room boutique hotel conveniently located on campus with lagoon and ocean views? Accommodations are available for families of students and university-affiliated guests and room rates are all-inclusive, with no additional taxes or fees. Even if you're not staying overnight, consider joining us for lunch in the Dining Room where our seasonal menus highlight local, organic products whenever possible (open Monday-Friday from 11:30 am-1:30 pm). Next time you visit campus, we would love to have you stay, dine, meet, and gather at The Club & Guest House!
- Please encourage or remind your student to register to vote when they get to campus. Students who live in University housing will have an opportunity to register during their hall/floor/complex meetings during the first few days after Move-in. If your student is moving into an off-campus apartment or if their mailing address has changed, they will need to register or re-register with their new address. Registering to vote in Santa Barbara County with their University address is convenient and gives students the opportunity to vote on local issues and candidates.

Week of Welcome & Fall Kick-Off Events
| |
The start of the school year includes a variety of kick-off events. Encourage your student to log onto Shoreline and search for Week of Welcome opportunities to connect with their peers and learn more about UCSB. All students will receive an email next week from the Office of Student Life highlighting these events.
Here is a sample of some of the events that await both new and continuing students:
- Enrollment Services Resource Fair: September 23-26, 10am-3pm (Student Affairs & Administrative Services Building courtyard) This will be an opportunity for all students (new and continuing) to complete their required steps to enrollment and get questions answered in one location. By completing these steps on time, your student will avoid late fees and/or getting dropped from classes. Representatives from the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of the Registrar, Billing Accounts Receivable Collections (BARC), Basic Needs and more will be available to answer any questions students might have. Please encourage your student to visit the fair so they can complete these required steps ahead of the first day of instruction!
- Campus Involvement Fair: September 24, 10am-2pm (Storke Plaza) Students can learn more about campus involvement opportunities, ask questions to current students, and meet with registered campus organizations.
- Rec Fest: September 25, 1-4 pm (Recreation Center) Rec Fest is the UCSB Department of Recreation's annual festival that showcases the variety of classes and activities that Recreation offers including FREE fitness, sport, and adventure demos. Information and sign-ups are available for Intramural Sports, Sports Clubs, Athletic Training, Get up GAUCHOS!, Gaucho R.E.C., and more! Participants also enjoy live performances, games, and giveaways from our sponsors.
