$30K in One Night at the Paragus Firehouse Cook-Off

On a perfect August evening at Polar Park in Worcester, MA, the community came together for the Paragus Firehouse Cook-Off, benefiting the Worcester Fire Department and helping DetecTogether equip firefighters with the skills to detect cancer early and save lives.

In just a few hours, generous sponsors and supporters helped raise $30,000—a true home run for community impact. The night was filled with friendly competition, great food, and plenty of cheers as the WFD Franklin Street Firehouse claimed the top spot with their Italian Beef Supermelt and decadent Flourless Chocolate Tourte with Raspberry Reduction.

Fueled by coffee and a relentless drive for early detection, DetecTogether and VITALExam hit the road to deliver 3 Steps Detect® and health screenings—giving firefighters the tools to fight their greatest threat: cancer.

First stop from Pensacola, FL airport: Daphne Fire Department, Alabama. Our team rolled in with vital resources, training, and energy to give first responders not just knowledge, but the confidence and skills to take action against cancer.

Next stop: Baldwin County 9-1-1 Dispatch Center in Mobile, AL, where the Southwest Alabama Association of Fire Chiefs held their monthly meeting. Between the fire chiefs, DetecTogether, VITALExam, and NIOSH’s National Firefighter Registry for Cancer, the room was buzzing (and not just from all the strong Southern coffee).

No road trip is complete without a surprise—like the pup hydration station in Daphne, fueling even the furriest rookies.
