In Case You Missed It

Mask in Your Campus Residence

As a reminder, on-campus residents have moved to "Phase 1" as a result of a bump in positive cases among students. Regardless of vaccination status, all students must wear face masks within their residential unit (except for their personal bedrooms or in the shower) as well as in residential halls, elevators, lobbies, etc. Also, guests are currently not permitted in residential housing. Learn more on the Student Housing Safety page.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

This month we reflect on what each of us needs to care for our emotional wellness, acknowledge and support those who struggle with mental illness and unite to reduce the stigma around seeking help. We encourage you to check in with yourself; what do you need?

Your Questions Answered

Question: What do I do if I have symptoms and I am waiting for test results?
Answer: You should behave as if you may be infected and can infect others while you are waiting for your results.
  • Do not leave your residence or suite; remain alone or wear a mask at all times in your residence.
  • Do not attend in-person classes. If you are a student employee, do not report to work on-site.
  • Wear a face covering if you enter common areas and avoid contact with others, including roommates.
  • Wash your hands before leaving your room or when coming into contact with others.

Question: I am a fully remote student or employee, what are my testing requirements?

Answer: Fully remote students and employees are exempt from asymptomatic campus testing requirements. If you are fully remote but need to come to campus, you are encouraged to conduct a PCR COVID-19 test 48 hours before arriving on campus as well as on the day you arrive. Remember, you are not required to conduct a PCR test if you have had COVID-19 in the last 90 days.

Question: How do I care for and store my KN95 mask?

Answer: With proper care, a KN95 mask should be reusable for an extended period of time. To preserve their effectiveness, KN95 masks should be stored in a dry, safe location that's out of direct sunlight, such as a paper bag.

Replace your KN95 mask when it:
  • Becomes soiled or wet; OR
  • No longer covers the nose and mouth; OR
  • Has stretched out or damaged ties/straps; OR
  • Has holes, tears, or any deteriorated fabric; OR
  • Has been worn for five (5) or more full days (NIOSH recommendation)
