Dear Wagner Students,
I hope your semester is going well.
As President Mills has said, very troubling events globally and locally have generated a great deal of concern across our community. In response, NYU has issued a 10-point
plan for student safety and well-being, which includes important resources. Here at Wagner, please be kind, respectful, and compassionate toward one another, our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the entire community.
Here are the highlights for this month…
- I am proud to share that I will be chairing a gubernatorial advisory body of health care experts on ensuring access to high-quality, equitable care for all New Yorkers. Governor Kathy Hochul announced her intent to create the Commission on the Future of Health Care in her 2023 State of the State address, and the committee met for the first time last month.
Events
- It is Military Appreciation Week at NYU - we are grateful to all our veterans and military-connected members of the NYU community for your service. Learn more and register for this week’s events.
- Between November 8 and 17, join an event spotlighting the global and international experiences unique to NYU and celebrate and expand your cross-cultural awareness, curiosity, and knowledge during NYU International Education Week. We appreciate the diverse, rich perspectives of NYU Wagner’s international student body representing over 40 countries.
- Join us for the latest collaboration between NYU Wagner and The Century Foundation. What's Next after Affirmative Action for College Admissions will be a conversation about the consequences of the Supreme Court's affirmative action ruling and how policymakers can improve equitable access to higher education. RSVP for this virtual event.
- Former NYC Mayor and Wagner Marnold Fellow Bill de Blasio is back with the next installment of Marnold Talks. The next conversation will take place on November 15 (topic: turning passion into action). A reception will follow the talk.
- The NYU Urban Initiative holds lunchtime Urban Seminars every other week that are open to the NYU community. All faculty, students, and staff are welcome to attend the lecture and enjoy lunch. Prentiss Dantzler is the next speaker on Tuesday, November 14. You can register for the talk.
