4-H State Livestock Quiz Bowl and Skill-a-thon |
| Date:Â Saturday, March 21, 2026Â
Location: UW-Madison â Animal Sciences Building, 1675 Observatory Drive, Madison, WI 53706
Registration: Through 4-H OnlineÂ
Deadline: March 9, 2026Â
Info:Â Two different contests all about livestock. Use your knowledge about the animal species (beef, sheep, swine, meat goat) and the industry.
A quiz competition where all the questions are about beef, sheep, swine, and meat goat topics. Students use a buzzer to answer the questions (similar to the game show Jeopardy). Teams compete in a double elimination format by giving oral answers to questions posed by a moderator. Each match has both an individual and toss-up question round. The top team earns the opportunity to compete at the national competition. You need a county team with current 4-H members to participate in this contest.
Everything you know about raising your animal adds up to so much knowledge of the species and the industry. The Skill-a-thon contest will help you challenge you to share that information through a written quiz and learning stations such as breed identification, feed identification, equipment identification as well as some team activities such as demonstrating evaluation skills. The top team earns the opportunity to compete at the national competition. You can participate as an individual or a team for the skill-a-thon contest.

Volunteers Needed:Â Breakfast on the Farm |
The Brown County Dairy Promotions Committee is looking for volunteers for our annual Breakfast on the Farm event. This yearâs event will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Tinedale Farms at 2768 Poplar St, Wrightstown, WI. There are multiple volunteer shifts available throughout the weekend of the event.Â
Volunteers who are a part of a group/organization are eligible to receive compensation for volunteering their time. Groups and organizations can receive $10/member for each shift worked. For example, if one volunteer works two shifts, the organization they are a part of would receive $20 for that volunteerâs time (2 shifts X $10/shift). Another example, if three volunteers work one shift, the organization would receive $30 for their time (3 shifts X $10/shift). There is not a limit on the amount of funds a group/organization can receive for their time volunteering.
Volunteer sign up is first come first served. We recommend signing up early to guarantee your group can work together at the event. Questions about volunteering? Contact Elizabeth Schwalbach at 920-450-1912 or eschwalb387@gmail.com.
