Effective July 1, Dr. Muktar Aliyu, a renowned physician-epidemiologist will lead VIGH as its next director. Dr. Aliyu joined VIGH in 2009 and has been the associate director for Research since 2014. His research and training priorities include maternal and child health, HIV, capacity building, and applying implementation science to address drivers of sustainable, high-quality HIV/AIDS services in resource-constrained settings.
Dr. Aliyu will be the first holder of the Endowed Directorship in Global Health to support his efforts.
