Hello Graduate Students! We are finally getting some rain and cooler weather! Well, at least slightly cooler weather. Hopefully you are building out your semester schedules and have found your rhythm. We would encourage you to find some time to build community, attend one of these campus events, or get involved with a co-curricular group. There are so many great options in the next two weeks!

Every Moment Holy Worship Night and Bobo After Hours Event |
Baylor Spiritual Life is bringing Douglas Kaine McKelvey, author of the Every Moment Holy series, to campus on Tuesday, 9/29. This will be a time of worship and prayer, as various musical artists lead us in worship and Doug reads liturgies from his latest volume “Rites of Passage.” These liturgies are simple prayers for every day moments that students will be able to relate to (Ex: A liturgy for making a cup of coffee, for cramming for an exam, for starting a new job, for navigating loneliness or spiritual doubt, going on a first date, etc.)Â
Afterwards, Spiritual Life is inviting students to the Bobo Spiritual Life Center for free food, giveaways, and fellowship. Cowboy coffee will be provided by the Baylor Graduate School. Attendance is free, but RSVPs are preferred. Link to do so here!

This workshop will provide helpful tips and tricks for staying on top of emerging research in your discipline, cultivating your research niche, and using library tools and resources to help you make inroads in your field at Baylor and beyond. Our goal is that you will leave with practical strategies and a concrete action plan to build up your scholarly identity and platform! Virtual attendance is available through Zoom and the recording will be posted to the GPS workshop page on the Graduate School site.

Christian Scholars Fellowship Meeting |
Christian Scholars Fellowship is an interdisciplinary group for Baylor graduate students and faculty. We host biweekly meetings to discuss books/articles exploring the implications of researching and teaching as Christians. This semester we are reading To Know as We are Known, by Parker J. Professor Kathleen Kelly, Division Director of Vocal Studies will be presenting a lecture recital entitled "'The Two Apes from Leipzig': How Friedrich and Clara Wieck Constructed a Singular 19th-Century Career" for the 19th Century Research Seminar (19CRS) on Friday, October 2 at 3:30 pm in the ABL Foyer of Meditation; a reception will follow. 19CRS regularly hosts events particularly aimed at graduate students and faculty who study/teach things in the 19th century (or are just interested!). Have you ever felt confused on what LinkedIn is for, and why people use it? What about how you should use it as a graduate student? The Career Center has some LinkedIn and networking agents available for you. They also provide a guide to using LinkedIn through Handshake with so many helpful practices. For example, did you know that you can use LinkedIn to see where alumni of Baylor now work, and make professional connections with them?
