Ministry with the Homeless

1st and 3rd Wednesdays at Grace Place
Our next visit to serve meals at Grace Place is next Wednesday, February 2. If you would like to drive with us, let Juliet (juliethuam@gmail.com) know by Tuesday, February 1. We leave from the church parking lot at 7:10 am.

New every morning is your love, great God of light,
and all day long you are working for good in our world. Stir up in us a desire to serve you,
to live peacefully with our neighbors and all your creation, and to devote each day to your Son,
our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Children’s Ministry: Our children has begun a unit on the New Testament using the curriculum HOLY MOLY. Using Bible stories, this unit will help our children:                            Discover – Introduce kids to the Bible story characters and begin to discover the story by watching a Bible study video.     Relate – Discuss what surprised them, what makes them wonder, and how they feel about the story they just saw.          Connect – Open Bibles and explore the day’s story.                                                                                                     Create – Imagine and reflect on the Bible story through hands-on activities or games using their learner leaflet.

Covid Safety Update
The Omicron variant is causing extraordinarily high numbers of Covid cases within our community and across the state.  As we wait for this new surge to subside the Leadership at Parkway Hills and members who work in healthcare strongly encourage you to wear a mask while gathering in crowds, including at Parkway Hills UMC, regardless of your vaccination status.  Additionally, preschool and elementary-aged children who are able should wear masks as well.  The current recommendation for a mask to be the most effective is N-95, KN-95, or surgical masks.  Social distancing and handwashing are still effective ways to reduce transmission.

If you have not been vaccinated, or have not received the booster, you are encouraged to speak with your doctor about the Covid-19 vaccination, for yourself and your children.

Thank you for doing everything you can to help keep everyone safe and healthy and for aiding in the support of our healthcare workers.

Sincerely,
Bob Abney, Susan Clark, Charles Guess, Lindsey Norris, Chere Peel,                     Marc Rolph, Anne Yates

Our January Communion Offering supports
Sunday Fund
for Methodist Senior Services

This benevolence fund was created to meet the financial burdens of elders who live on one of our twelve MSS campuses across Mississippi. These are elders who have outlived their resources and can no longer afford the cost of housing or care. No matter how much someone plans and saves, sometimes those plans are dramatically altered by unexpected events which produce overwhelming financial and emotional obstacles.

To learn more about the Sunday Fund, watch this video.
