Dear Parents and Families,
We are looking forward to your student's arrival! It will be a full day as your Jumbo moves into their residence hall. You and your student will receive a printed program/schedule for the day at check in, and your student will receive their Tufts ID and keys. Programs for parents and families on move-in days can also be viewed in advance online.
As a reminder, you are invited to attend the Matriculation Ceremony on Wednesday, August 30 at 10 a.m. ET; it will also be livestreamed to watch remotely. A link to the livestream is posted on the Orientation website.
If you are coming to Tufts for move-in and/or matriculation, following are a few tips and reminders.
|
Arrival, Check-in, and Parking |
-
If your student is moving in on August 24 for Pre-Orientation, please arrive during the timeframe your student was assigned according to their Pre-O program. Timed arrivals are designed to maximize efficiency so there are no long lines or wait periods.
-
If your student is moving in on the Medford/Somerville campus, your first stop is to check in at the Joyce Cummings Center (JCC), 177 College Avenue, Medford, before going to their residence hall to move in. If you are coming by car, you will be directed where to park once you arrive at the JCC.
-
If your student is moving in on the Fenway campus, please go directly to 1047 Beacon Street, Brookline. After you have moved your student into their residence on Beacon Street, please plan to make your way to the Medford/Somerville campus for parent and family programming. There will also be activities for students, and the dining halls will be open. Please park at the Dowling Parking Garage at 419 Boston Avenue, Medford.
- Additional information about travel to campus, arrival, and parking is available online.
|
-
Professional movers will be available to help students unload and move in. To expedite the unloading process, your student's boxes, plastic totes, suitcases, etc. should be labeled with their first and last name, building and room number, and cell phone number.
-
If your student has questions or requests related to their residence hall or facilities-related requests regarding their room after they move in, please look for Residential Life staff. They will be visible on campus (in the residence halls and at check-in) wearing tie-dye T-shirts, or “Tufts” polo shirts in black, white, or blue.
-
If you have other questions, please call Student Services at 617-627-2000.

In an effort to help make move-in seamless and sustainable, our colleagues in the Office of Sustainability offer eco-conscious tips for moving to campus. Small actions, like mindful packing and waste reduction, can collectively make a significant impact.
|
Lastly, it is not necessary to RSVP to attend programs for parents and families during move in or matriculation, but if you haven’t already done so, please take our brief survey to let us know which events you plan to attend.
We look forward to welcoming you to campus very soon!
