Professional Development Programming: Graduate school is an important balance of gaining an academic skill set and networking within your field. Professional Development Programming with The Graduate School can help you succeed in both. Our programming offers professional development opportunities for students, and helps students increase their professionalism, academic advancement, communication, engagement, and success. Project, Thesis, Dissertation Workshops: The Graduate School will be offering a limited number of Project, Thesis, and Dissertation Workshops during the Winter 2026 semester. Each workshop contains the same content. This workshop is required for all graduate students beginning their work on a thesis or dissertation in the Winter 2026 semester or enrolled for the first time in a 695 or 795 course. Project students are welcome to attend any workshop. The next workshop will be online on Tuesday, February 11, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. The Zoom link will be sent prior to the workshop to those who register.

Career Fair: The Winter Career & Internship Fair is a great place to begin your job or internship search. It could be a strong start to your networking with organizations looking to hire Grand Valley students and alumni from all different programs. There are 230 employers expected to attend who are offering immediate openings. Whether you are actively looking for a new position or looking to build your network, the Career & Internship Fair is a great opportunity for your professional development.

3 Minute Thesis Competition: Challenge yourself in a unique opportunity to share your work with the broader community in a fun and exciting format. The 3 Minute Thesis Competition allows graduate students to present their research in just 3 minutes with the aid of a single slide. Students completing graduate level projects, dissertations, and theses are eligible to participate in the competition. Submissions are due March 9th at 9:00 a.m.!

GA Highlight: Graduate assistant, Priscilla Aroboi, is in her first year of the Master of Health Administration graduate program at GVSU and is a GA in the Business Management Department. Priscilla’s graduate assistantship is greatly setting her up for her future career because she plans to pursue a PhD after she graduates with her Master’s.
