Reminders & Highlights

Green Tip
Please enjoy the following eco-friendly tidbit brought to you by Friends of the Environment:
According to the Natural Resources Defense Council the average American goes through 28 pounds of toilet paper per year, or 141 rolls. To save our trees, buy toilet paper made from recycled paper or that with the highest post-consumer recycled content. Also look for toilet paper that is unbleached and chlorine free or made from a sustainable alternative like bamboo. Be sure and check the label for the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification, considered the most credible in the industry. The FSC is an organization that works to promote the worldwide practice of sustainable forestry and sets standards and certifications for sustainable forest products. Several national brands are FSC certified so look for it on the label of your favorite brand and save a tree.
Amsonia plant (Colorado desert blue star). It is Xeric, deer resistant and low maintenance.

Monday Winter Golf Course Meet Up!
Want to get out and enjoy everything RVR offers in the winter, especially with all the great snow? Join a group of residents every Monday for an outdoor adventure on the golf course: cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or walking. Meet at the north end of the golf course parking lot at 8:45 a.m. We’ll explore the front nine, back nine, or both! Each nine can be done in about 75 minutes. Come prepared to get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and hopefully meet some new neighbors.
For more information, please contact Sarah Murr at sarahmurr100@gmail.com.
Social Clubs at RVR – A Call for Ambassadors!
We hope to increase opportunities for those in RVR to enjoy the things they love doing with others in the community, and hopefully meet some new friends in the process!
We are seeking volunteers to serve as ambassadors for special interest groups, or social clubs. At a minimum, the ambassador will serve as a point of contact for connecting members with a similar interest – including new neighbors or others who have yet to establish their own social networks or those looking to take up a new activity. They may also (totally optional) coordinate group activities around the interest, maintain a contact list of interested people, write blurbs for the newsletter about upcoming meet ups, or any number of things that may help our community engage. The club ambassador’s name and contact information will be posted on the website.

Here are some social clubs that we think could be of interest to the community:
  • Fishing
  • Hiking
  • Skiing
  • Cross Country Skiing
  • Road Cycling
  • Mountain Biking
  • Book Club
  • Crafts
  • Bridge
  • Mahjong
  • Boating
  • Walking
  • Poker
  • Gardening
  • Any other ideas welcome!
Interested in volunteering as an ambassador? Email Ali Royer: ali.royer@rvrma.org
