SPECIAL NOTICES
Staffing Updates
Dear friends,
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the departure of Katie Everette, Parish Engagement Coordinator, who will move to Atlanta, Georgia later this month with her husband, Sam, in order to be closer to family and to embark upon a new job opportunity. Katie recently passed the Association of Social Work Boards Clinical Exam and officially became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Her last day in the office will be Tuesday, June 24. We wish Katie and Sam the very best as they begin this new chapter.
I am delighted to announce that the Reverend Andrew Stump will join the clergy team in July. Young, bright, and approachable, Andrew will serve as Associate Priest for Next Generation and Outreach Ministries. (NOTE: Since Andrew is a transitional deacon, his initial title will be Assistant to the Rector. He will be ordained to the priesthood in the Fall.) As Christ Church continues to grow, it is essential that we invest in the ministry that will support our parishioners. Andrew’s focus on the young and on outreach will help us develop these important areas even further.
The Reverend Timothy A. R. Cole, Rector
Bio: Andrew Stump: Andrew Stump is an ordained deacon who has served in congregations from Yellowstone to Yale, and is looking forward to joining the priesthood while he serves in our nation’s capital. A native of rural Ohio, Andrew holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and philosophy from the University of Chicago and a Master of Divinity from Yale University.
Andrew’s prior parish ministry experience includes Christ Episcopal Church in Cody, Wyoming, where he led formation programs for children, adolescents, and adults. He has also ministered as a hospital chaplain at the University of Virginia and has led courses on the Christian message of The Lord of the Rings for audiences of all ages, counting the works of J.R.R. Tolkien as a primary influence on his own faith.Once an avowed atheist, Andrew carries a deep empathy for those who wrestle with doubt and spiritual disconnection—particularly youth and young adults—and is passionate about forming faith that is spiritually deep, intellectually honest, and emotionally grounded.Outside the church, he enjoys weightlifting, reading, trying new foods, and traveling the world with his wife, Eva.
Liturgical Music at Christ Church: The parish’s former organ, which served the liturgical and musical needs of Christ Church for more than 25 years, was removed from the nave and transported to its new home outside of Philadelphia on Monday, May 19. During the months of June and July, two new sound systems – speech reinforcement and acoustical enhancement – as well as a new organ, a collaboration between R. A. Colby, Inc. of Johnson City, Tennessee and Walker Technical Company of Center Valley, Pennsylvania, will be installed. In the meantime, congregational singing will be led by a grand piano; the Choir of Christ Church will sing unaccompanied psalms and anthems. We thank you for your patience and spirit of flexibility as this exciting project unfolds. Questions? Contact Organist and Choirmaster Thomas Smith.
Vacation Bible School: Calling all children ages 3 through 11! This year’s Vacation Bible School, a unique opportunity to deepen faith and friendship, will take place Monday, July 28 through Friday, August 1, at Christ Church. It will be led by Youth and Families Minister Chrissy Casey along with a team of dedicated volunteer counselors. Campers will explore the life and lessons of Jesus through Bible study, prayer, song, art, science, and play. Daily activities will center on The Big Way of Love for Kids, a resource developed by the Episcopal Church in partnership with Forward Movement. Friends and neighbors are most welcome to attend. For more information or to register, click here. Interested in helping out with VBS? Contact Youth and Families Minister, Chrissy Casey.
Upcoming Funeral Liturgies: A funeral liturgy for the late Anne Roulhac will take place on Tuesday, June 10, at 10:00 a.m., in Saint Mary’s Chapel at Washington National Cathedral. A funeral liturgy for the late Laurie Clifford will take place on Tuesday, June 17, at 11:00 a.m., at Christ Church. Your prayers and presence are requested.
Morning Prayer Officiants Needed: In an attempt to sustain public recitation of the Daily Office throughout the summer months, we are currently seeking additional volunteers to officiate at the brief, but beautiful service of Morning Prayer, which takes place Monday through Friday, at 8:00 a.m., in the Chapel of Saint Jude. Volunteers will be asked to serve no more than once each week. Training will be provided. For more information, contact the Rector.

The Flower Guild accepts contributions in memory of the departed, in celebration of births, and in thanksgiving for the reception of Christian sacraments. Contributions marking private secular celebrations are welcome, but they will not be acknowledged in service leaflets or the Prayers of the People. In such cases, donors are encouraged to let loved ones know of their contribution with a greeting card. The suggested donation is $100.
Christ Church Career Connections: Conscious that many in the DC metro area may be between jobs, the clergy have revived a program that aims to connect job seekers with potential employers. If you are looking for work, or know someone who is, Christ Church offers the opportunity to submit your resume to a confidential file. Those looking to hire can request access to relevant resumes and CVs. While we won’t list names publicly, we will share the areas in which people are seeking employment. Whether you’re job hunting or hiring, starting close to home might be a great option. To participate, send your resume and contact the Rector.
If you are looking for people or know of someone who is, we currently have people interested in the following areas; Grant Making, Philanthropic Advice, Non-Profit Management, Broadcast Journalist/ production, Media, Intl/ Gov affairs/ coms / public policy,  National Security/ Crisis Management, HR, Project Management, Government Affairs/ Lobbying, Editing/Admin/Research/Writing, Paralegal or Legal Assistant, and IT.
Christ Church Career Connections is a ministry dedicated to supporting parishioners and those they would vouch for in seasons of vocational transition. Through networking, mentorship, prayer, and practical resources, we walk alongside one another in the search for meaningful work and purpose.
