Washington Family Ranch Creekside Middle School Camp
Written by volunteer leader, Katie Frydenlund
As we arrived at Creekside, we were greeted by the awesome work crew which got the kids super excited after a long 8 hour bus ride. The camp speaker challenged the kids to really go for it all week. Our BTMS and AMS students truly took on the challenge and really went for it ... everything from the ropes course, running from a "radioactive spill" and doing an obstacle course where we couldn't leave any man behind! (Side note: It's very important to us in Young Life to not leave any kid behind!  For example, one of our middle school students missed the bus the morning we left.  However, we made sure he was still given the opportunity to get to camp, as he was driven all the way to camp later that day.  He made it just in time for the fun surprise evening activity I was just describing!)  The food was amazing, the water slides were so fun and the cliff jump into freezing cold water was awesome! As the week went on the kids got to know more and more about Jesus and what He has done for us. It was a pleasure to watch kids go from just listening, to having questions, to knowing and accepting Christ. We had about 6 kids accept Christ for the first time and many recommitted their lives to following Jesus! As many of the students said it was "the best week of their lives"!
Next month, we will be sharing stories from our high school and freshman camps.
A New Calling to YoungLives
Written by former food coordinator, Brittany Jesus
My introduction to Young Life came in adulthood when I volunteered as a food coordinator two years ago for the Lynnwood-Terrace area. I organized donations of food and meals for various clubs and holiday gatherings, as well as prepared and provided meals all year long. I thoroughly enjoyed serving the leaders and youth of our area in this way, as food brings people joy and sharing a meal promotes a sense of community and belonging.  It brought me great joy to serve in this role, however I felt God's tug on my heart to give more of myself. Last year I had the opportunity to become a mentor for Snohomish County YoungLives. YoungLives supports teen mothers and their children. Through mentorship and volunteering my time in this ministry I am able to form relationships with teen mothers and walk alongside them as they raise their children. The young women involved in YoungLives have changed my life and heart in ways I cannot fully describe in words. They are strong, brave, beautiful women who choose life for their babies. I admire them and cherish my time with them. God has led my heart to these opportunities and I am honored to serve Him through my small part in Young Life and YoungLives.  As you can see from the camp photo above, I am now all in as I lead these young ladies. As I transition to a new role in YoungLives, it leaves an opportunity for you to serve in the role I had previously done! See below!
