Architect Doug Marsh, ‘most impactful builder in Notre Dame’s history,’ to retire after 30-year University career
Executive Vice President Shannon Cullinan has announced that Doug Marsh, vice president for facilities design and operations and University architect, will retire May 31, 2025, after a 30-year career at the University.
“Over the past three decades, Notre Dame’s campus has experienced tremendous growth, and Doug has been at the forefront of ensuring that we have world-class facilities to support the teaching, research, and community-building that are at the heart of the University’s mission.” —President Rev. Warren Foundation Dean of the College of Science, has intensified the College of Science’s focus on rare diseases, overseeing the launch of the nation’s first minor in rare disease patient advocacy.

Notre Dame expands military support with mental health and leadership courses
Notre Dame’s faculty and military-connected community are working with the Military Spouse Advocacy Network to offer two online courses for military spouses—one focused on ethical leadership skills in support of professional development, and the other on developing skills to promote resilience and mental health.

Celebratory campus-wide Inauguration Picnic provides case study for composting on campus
As part of the Inauguration Picnic, Notre Dame launched its first-ever large-scale composting initiative in collaboration with Campus Dining, Notre Dame Sustainability, and WasteNot, a Chicago-based composting service.

The Rally team wins Team Irish Award
The Rally team, composed of colleagues from 10 distinct divisions, colleges, and schools, worked with campus partners last spring to host more than 2,500 newly admitted students. In an effort to think as an institution, this cross-functional team welcomed admitted students and their families in a distinctly Notre Dame way. Read about their work and their success here.

Notre Dame Rome signs agreement with Rome’s Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali
The three-year agreement with the institutional body overseeing historic buildings, archaeological sites, and various monuments allows Notre Dame faculty, undergraduate students, and graduate students privileged study and research access to the newly opened Parco Archeologico del Celio, a park overlooking the Colosseum that preserves significant archaeological artifacts.
