In August, the College of Health Sciences hosted a “chill out” event for all students in the college to welcome new and returning students back to campus with frozen treats, fostering college community and promoting engagement within student programs. Last month the cardiovascular perfusion program had a BBQ kick-off to begin the semester. In addition, Highlights of activities coming up this semester include:
September: Students in the Aging Adult class will volunteer with the Tennessee Senior Olympics, Lipscomb alumnus and high school football coach Jay Gore shared his experiences in a coaching class in the kinesiology program.
October: School of Nursing Fall Open House, Disaster Preparedness Day with Diane Dubinski from the State Health Department, nursing students will help pack and sort medical supplies for Healing Hands International, Sean Judge from Healing Hands International will be a guest speaker for nursing students, the Student Dietetic Association will host Food Day in Bison Square
November: Nursing Career Fair, missions panel presentation for nursing students
December: White Coat Ceremony for Cardiovascular Perfusion Program, nursing pinning ceremony
In addition, the Lipscomb Student Nurses Association, the Nursing Christian Fellowship, the Pre-Physicians Assistant Club and the Kinesiology Club meet regularly throughout the semester. The School of Nursing also hosts a breakout chapel that meets every Wednesday to study scripture with an emphasis on application for nurses.
