| Ghosts, witches, and monsters aren’t nearly as frightening as the scariest thing this Halloween: The e-cigarette epidemic facing our youth. It is reaching into virtually every school and neighborhood across the country.

Is YOUR district on the *updated* CATCH Promise list?
| |
The list of CATCH Promise priority districts has been updated to include 100 US school districts with large student populations and high free-and-reduced lunch rates (76.5% average) – two factors that are strong indicators of public health need and resource availability.

Students can now combat the vaping epidemic while gaining valuable leadership skills!
| |
| Our new CATCH My Breath Service Learning Projects are available for free to any students looking to have an impact on curbing the vaping epidemic, while also building skills that colleges and employers love, such as public speaking, social advocacy, and fundraising. Where possible, students can also earn school credit and have an opportunity to receive state & national recognition. Our projects provide guidance and a framework to conduct each service learning project. If you know a student, teacher, counselor, or anyone else who might be interested, visit our Service Learning Projects page.

How healthy is your school? Find out!
Is your school working toward implementing Whole Child health but not sure how you’re doing or even where to start?
The School Health Index (SHI) – originally developed by the CDC – takes about an hour and helps you assess your campus. Action for Healthy Kids has created an easy-to-use online version of the SHI that is customized for nutrition, physical activity and health topics. Visit the AFHK School Portal to get a detailed assessment of where your school succeeds and where it can improve in making sure kids are participating in healthy behaviors, learning better, and thriving. You’ll also see if national standards for things like physical activity minutes, family engagement, and nutritional specifications are being met.
After you complete the SHI, you can choose to download your report and share it with CATCH Global Foundation for a consultation (no cost) to review the findings and discuss possible next steps. Simply email a PDF of your report to schoolhealthindex@catch.org and someone from our team will be in touch!
