Eva Barnard '23 Featured in Riley Children's Article
Brebeuf Jesuit senior Eva Barnard was recently featured in a Riley Children's Health article. She was diagnosed with sickle cell disease just last year at the age of 17. For years, she had been dealing with unusual fatigue and pain episodes that she figured were normal. When she heard the diagnosis of sickle cell, “Everything made sense,” she said. Now, she has a name for her condition and wants others to understand the symptoms.

fall play: death takes a holiday
Students Perform a 1934 Romantic Drama
Claire Wilmore ‘25, Staff Writer for Inside Prep
Brebeuf students will be performing Death Takes A Holiday in October. In this play, Death takes human form and learns about love and life. Tickets are now on sale for the performances October 7 and 8 with a special preview performance for faculty and staff on October 6.
Students in the play have been rehearsing since the end of August and are very excited for the production.
“We are very lucky to have a guest artist, local theatre legend Claire Wilcher, who will be assisting the students in the role of Intimacy Director” says Tobin Strader, who is overseeing the production.
Many students auditioned for this production, so much so that there are two casts. One cast is the Maroon Cast, and the other is the Gold Cast. The Maroon Cast will be performing on Thursday, October 6, and Friday, October 7. The Gold Cast will be performing both the matinee and evening performances on Saturday, October 8.
There are over 45 students in the play involving actors, stage crew, costumes, set designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, social media/publicity, ushers, and concessions. Tickets can be purchased at brebeuf.org/tickets. The cost is $7 for students and $12 for adults.

introducing senior fans to brebeuf jesuitTeddy Potts '24 recently started a program called Senior Fans, which has established a relationship between Brebeuf Jesuit and Saint Augustine's Home for the Aged. Brebeuf has invited the residents of Saint Augustine's to be our guests at school functions, including athletic events and performing arts productions. This program will benefit Brebeuf Jesuit students by giving them a chance to interact with senior citizens in their community, and the residents of Saint Augustine by allowing them to enjoy the activities Brebeuf students are involved in. Students will greet the seniors and sit with them during the games and productions.
What a wonderful way to enrich our community! For more information on how to get involved, contact Teddy Potts at wpotts24@amdg.brebeuf.org.

HELP US REACH OUr PHILANTHROPY WEEK GOAL TOMORROW!All week long, we have been highlighting philanthropy’s important role at Brebeuf Jesuit, and tomorrow we celebrate the greatest day of Philanthropy Week: Giving Day, the day to make your gift to Brebeuf Jesuit!
Tomorrow, we celebrate our rich tradition of educating men and women for others and the important role that philanthropy plays in bringing that tradition to life.
For 60 years, Brebeuf Jesuit has provided an opportunity for a formative Jesuit education to the Indianapolis community. This opportunity is made possible only by the support of our generous community through The Brebeuf Fund.
Every gift to The Brebeuf Fund ensures we are able to remain true to the mission of Brebeuf and to the principles of St. Ignatius, educating all of our gifted and capable students regardless of financial circumstance. This Giving Day, please join us as we continue our important work in forming Braves who will carry the torch of St. Ignatius. Let us celebrate this special community that has showcased the respect and understanding needed to drive this year, to care for one another in remarkable ways, and to live what it means to be for others.
Learn more about Cara Chittenden ‘98 and Craig Olsinski ‘98 and why they give here.
You can also celebrate Giving Day by telling the world why you give to the Brebeuf Jesuit community on social media with the hashtag, #BrebeufGives!

first fridays at brebeuf jesuit - mass, adoration, confessions and benediction
Next Friday, October 7, is the First Friday of the month. The 7:45 a.m. Mass will conclude with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and be followed by an opportunity for Eucharistic Adoration.
Adoration will conclude with benediction at 2:00 p.m. Current students, faculty, and staff can stop in for some quiet prayer when they have a moment. Parents, alumni, and other friends of Brebeuf Jesuit are invited to participate as well. For the security of our campus, we ask those visiting to sign up using the links below to commit to a particular time next Friday or for any of the upcoming First Fridays. We are looking for at least two to three volunteers to sign up for each time slot but can take as many as the chapel will fit.
Note, too, that the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available during the first PRT (10:35 - 11:10 a.m.). If you are curious about these devotions, call or email Fr. Chris Johnson, S.J. at 317.524.7134 or cjohnson@brebeuf.org. Or, consider showing up in the Brebeuf Chapel at 7:30 a.m. on October 7, right before the morning Mass, when Fr. Chris is planning to offer a short explanation.
